Last Friday, on KVNUs movie show, we briefly discussed this weekend’s big opener Star Trek and it’s universally glowing reviews. Promising stuff.
If you’re interested in learning a little more about the writing development behind Star Trek reboot, movie website extraordinaire Ain’t It Cool News has posted an interview where Mr. Beaks (aka- one-time fellow CHUD writer Jeremy Smith– a good guy and a gooder interviewer) talks to Star Trek screenwriters Roberto Orci and Alex Krutzman. They discuss the weight of trying to bring a franchise from geek protectionism to mass audience appeal, JJ Abrams role in the process as well as how long this thing’s been in gestation.
The interview is mildly spoilery and assumes you already have some Trek background, so if you want to see Friday’s Star Trek with a blank slate, skip out. To proceed, click here.
Just remember to come back, because on the other side of the jump, we’ve got a slew of Star Trek clips thanks to HitFix. Here’s a tease:
To be honest, I’m a little underwhelmed by the clips below, but I think that’s kinda of typical, as they’re taken from all over the movie and seen without any kind of context, buildup or tone. Still, see what you think.
