True confession time: I hate scary movies.

Okay, maybe hate is a strong word. I don’t hate scary movies like I hate overweight Walmart hillbillies who spit in the faces of their two-year old kids because they are crying. No, I hate scary movies like I hate being tickled or riding roller coasters. It’s uncomfortable, slightly irritating, but yet I can’t stop laughing, and when it’s over, I thump my chest and talk about how “fun” it was.

That was Paranormal Activity for me last year. It was an event movie. Sitting in a dark theater and hearing people scream and jump and laugh was a nice atmosphere, not to mention the movie in and of itself was one of the scariest to come along in the last decade. With the advent of Paranormal Activity 2, I’m having a hard time deciphering my emotions. Will this be a cheap cookie cutter sequel living off borrowed light from its predecessor, or will this have fresh scares and a semi solid cast and story? Not to be Switzerland, but I’m guessing the answer will fall somewhere in the middle.
