There has been a lot of Tom Cruise hate since 2005, after Old Man Maverick painted Brooke Shields as a drug-happy quack and did his dance of Katie Holmes adoration on Oprah Winfrey’s sofa. But I’m not a member of the Anti-Cruise Brigade, in fact I think the guy is undeniably one of our most underappreciated actors. Sure, we can crap on things like Cocktail, Interview with the Vampire, Eyes Wide Shut or Vanilla Sky, but the dude has talent and is 100 percent the real deal. From Les Grossman in Tropic Thunder to Frank T.J. Mackey in Magnolia, I enjoy Tom Cruise on the big screen.
His new movie, Knight and Day, where he stars with the charming Cameron Diaz, looks like it could be a winner. It’s got that crazy, comedic Tom Cruise angle and is directed by James Mangold, the man behind 3:10 to Yuma and Walk the Line. It’s just hard to see how this will suck and I for one am looking forward to its June 25, 2010 release. Check out the full-length trailer below.
