Star Wars Nerds Having Blu-gasms Over Boxed Set Talk

As much as I give the middle finger to the much-maligned Star Wars prequels, I won’t deny a soft spot in my heart for the universe George Lucas spawned in 1977. Despite Lucas’ best attempts, no amount of Jar Jar Binks silliness, wooden acting and Saturday Morning CGI could keep me from loving the original trilogy, specifically A New Hope and The Empire Strikes Back. This adoration for the galaxy far, far away is why I promise you I will enthusiastically pay big, bloated bucks for the Star Wars Blu-ray boxed set recently disclosed by Lucasfilm’s Steven Sansweet.

Sansweet didn’t really disclose too much, including a release date (although late 2011 is rumored), but he did mention they’d been working on this Blu-ray set for a few years and “We’re finding all kinds of scenes from dailies that have never been seen before. Beyond all of those things that you know about there are some real treasures.”

I eagerly await news on what and won’t be included on this Blu-ray release, but one thing is absolutely certain: If the original, non-stupid versions of A New Hope, The Empire Strikes Back and Return of The Jedi aren’t included, fans, including me, will cry foul and picket Skywalker Ranch with geek fists raised and sharply worded rhetoric.

Here’s my question: What do you hope is included in this Blu-ray release?
