I watched Armageddon on Blu-ray a few weeks ago and even though I will bang the drum for the I Heart Michael Bay fan club, and argue that all his movies, including Pearl Harbor, are entertaining and wonderfully stylistic, I will not champion Ben Affleck for any acting awards any time soon. In fact, with the exception of a few roles, Affleck’s thespian skills deserve a hearty pruneslam. The animal cracker scene in Armageddon and nearly every moment where he’s …

Bryce Casselman made the trek from Hyrum, Utah to San Diego California this past week for the 2010 Comic-Con. AATM appreciates him corresponding and sending news and impressions from the comic book festival. By BRYCE CASSELMAN At the 2010 Comic-Con Visionary Panel, entertainment juggernauts Joss Whedon and J.J. Abrams sat down to talk about life, comic books and their upcoming films. Although Abrams was extremely tight-lipped about the upcoming film Super 8, he did say he was working with Steven …
By ANDY MORGAN I saw Paranormal Activity three times during its run in theaters last October and it scared the bejeezus out of me every time. Something about an invisible demon dragging a screaming chick down the hallway in her pajamas makes me pee a little in my pants every time. Apparently boatloads of Americans felt the same, because the movie made for $15,000 grossed over $107 million at the box office. I thought the concept was clever and well-executed …
There’s a new poster out for Piranha 3D and the sheer silliness of the artwork makes me giddy for August 20th, and, ironically, the 3D format. Batshit crazy fish with razor sharp teeth jumping off the screen and in my face is what 3D was made for and belays the gimmicky foundation of the technology. I’m excited for this movie and I think the movie should be a nice capstone to the so-so summer of 2010. Check out the full-sized …
This post has less to do with some actress whose last name is another word for farting and more about the remake of Fright Night, a beloved movie of my 1980s teenagehood. In case you missed it, DreamWorks is overseeing the Fright Night remake (due in theaters October 2011) and has already cast Colin Farrell (Crazy Heart), Anton Yelchin (Star Trek), Toni Collette (The United States of Tara), Christopher Mintz-Plasse (Kick Ass) David Tennant (Doctor Who) and, of course, Imogen …
If you missed the MTV Movie Awards this past Sunday you missed a kick-ass tribute to Sandra Bullock, more Twilight than anyone should ever have to endure, Lindsay Lohan shaking in her seat from a lack of alcohol and enough f-words to make you think Martin Scorsese was directing the awards telecast. But you also missed this nice clip teasing the November 19, 2010 release of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part One. Click the article title above to …
If you missed the MTV Movie Awards yesterday, then you definitely missed this exclusive Eclipse clip (say that 10 times fast) and that means you also missed some serious Edward/Jacob tension. I’m not a Twilight fan, but The Twilight Saga: Eclipse might be the best film of the soon-to-be quintology. Click here to see the clip, or click the article headline above.
Here’s what I know: Nobody needs career revitalization more than Harrison Ford, Rachel McAdams, Jeff Goldblum and Diane Keaton. The irony is they are all terrific screen presences – even terrific actors, if I dare go that far – but the truth is they haven’t had a hit in quite some time. And no, Indiana Jones and The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull does not count as a hit for Harrison Ford and Sherlock Holmes does not count as a …
Ladies and gentleman, behold Rosie Huntington-Whiteley. She’s 23, hails from England, has dated Oliver Martinez (Unfaithful) and Jason Statham (The Bank Job) and is best known as a Victoria’s Secret Angel. As of today, according to Michael Bay’s website, she can add “Sam Witwicky’s Love Interest” to her resume, as she’s the new female lead in Transformers 3, which recently started filming in Los Angeles. She is the official replacement for collagen-happy Megan Fox, whom Michael Bay did not invite …
Jack Black (Year One) is the white Eddie Murphy (Shrek Forever After). He’s mostly funny, but can also be super annoying. Even worse, his comedic tricks are pretty much the same in every movie, and while that can be said of most comedians, for some reason it seems highlighted with guys like Murphy, Black and Jim Carrey. At any rate, Gulliver’s Travels hits theaters on December 22, 2010 and stars Emily Blunt (The Wolfman), Jason Segal (I Love You, Man) …
