Frequent readers of AATM know that I absolutely, unequivocally love Star Wars, but that I also derive great pleasure in mocking the craptastic prequel trilogy and George Lucas’ hungry wallet (made of rancor leather, no less) and equally ravenous ego that turned my childhood memories from monolithic Star Destroyers chasing the Millennium Falcon through asteroids, Luke’s hand getting whacked off by Darth Vader, and Lando Calrissian disco dancing with Ewoks, to petulant little midi-chlorian-filled brats asking strangers if they’re angels, …

With the Golden Globes and Academy Awards a few months away, it’s that time of year again where every film critics association begins to name the year’s best. In fact, the Utah Film Critics Association will vote on December 22, 2010 and I’ll be posting my ballot and the results here at Andy at The Movies.com. The news yesterday was the American Film Institute had named their best movies of 2010. You can watch a video of AFI’s picks after …
Just in case you missed this artwork floating around the Internet the last few weeks, it’s here at AATM for all your glory or ridicule. Cowboys & Aliens I’m excited to see and Pirates 4 could be good. One poster is cool, the other is blah. I’ll let you decide which.
Am I the only person in America who doesn’t see the appeal of Amanda Seyfried? I didn’t see Mamma Mia! (thank the LORD), so maybe I’m missing some perspective that is vital in my critique, but I have seen Jennifer’s Body and I wasn’t that impressed. Either way, I’m getting ahead of myself. Who is not as important as what in the case of the upcoming horror movie Red Riding Hood, helmed by Twilight director Catherine Hardwicke. Honestly, upon seeing …
If you live in Utah, you know the way rumors spread through Mormondom like napalm, and you’ve also probably heard people grumbling and asking questions about whether or not Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows: Part I has nudity or not. I’m not sure who ignited this particular brouhaha, but it seems KSL.com picked the story up from who knows where and then it spread through Facebook and Twitter quicker than you can say Mahonri Moriacumer. Here’s my best guess: …
I’m 36 and I don’t need Viagra, but after watching this trailer, I’m pretty sure this is what it’s like to have one of those four-hour problems where there is no chance in hell you’d walk into a hospital emergency room looking for assistance. That’s right, let me introduce you to the coolest trailer for a movie with the lamest name – Battle: Los Angeles. The plot is obvious – aliens have arrived and ready to annihilate the human race – and …
So I finished playing Star Wars: The Force Unleashed II last night, and despite some ho-hum reviews of the game, I was reminded how awesome Star Wars is when George Lucas isn’t sticking his silly, emotionless, underwhelming hands into every nook and cranny of the universe he started back in 1977. Finishing the Starkiller saga reminded me how excited I was at the news of a prequel trilogy and how badly I wanted to embrace them as the new hotness …
The Hunger Games movie, still without a confirmed director (although Gary Ross was thought to be in negotiations), apparently has a finished, Suzanne Collins-penned screenplay. We know this because two actresses, Kaya Scodelario and Lyndsy Fonseca, have let it slip they’re in possession of The Hunger Games script. Scodelario tweeted the revelation and Fonseca exposed as much at the New York Comic Con. If this is true, and it seems to be legit, the folks in the casting department at …
In case you haven’t heard, Christopher “King Midas” Nolan, the God behind Batman Begins, The Dark Knight, Inception (not to mention Memento, Insomnia and The Prestige) has handpicked Zack Snyder, the wunderkind behind 2007’s awesome, 300, 2009’s not-so-awesome-but-worthy-effort, Watchmen, and the recently released Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga’Hoole, to direct the forthcoming reboot of the Superman franchise. Despite all the rumormongering now taking place, this makes me extremely pleased. One of my earliest memories of cinema-going as …
I realize that Emma Stone (Easy A, Zombieland, Superbad) is only 21 and I was learning how to drive when her mom was powdering her baby booty, but man oh man is she a full-blown hottie. Yes, she’s gorgeous, but her sense of humor and personality make her hot. I’d imagine she’s the type of girl who would wolf down pizza and beer with you at 1AM and then stay up with you until the wee hours of the morning …
