Wall Street was the cinematic exclamation point to the slick “Me,me,me” greed of the ’80s. An Oliver Stone film that’s as accessibly mainstream as they come, Wall Street famously introduced “Greed is Good” to the American lexicon. It also gave us a Michael Douglas performance (as the charming douchebag Gordon Gecko) that didn’t show flabby ass cheeks or the Douglas O-face. 20+ years later, Wall Street lands a sequel courtesy of Oliver Stone– one that perfectly coincides with greed’s 2008-2010 …

On KVNU’s Movie Show Friday night, Andy and Dan delivered a brief preview of the biggest movies that will come to theaters (unless the movies, you know, make you think, in that case Westates won’t bring them to Logan) in 2010. One of the movies they mentioned, the remake of “Red Dawn,” reminded me to start doing a little Googling to find morsels of information about the updating of the 1984 Cold War thriller that made every teenage boy in …
How can you not want to see a movie that has a bloated Val Kilmer, the strangely attractive and hilarious Kristen Wiig, a gravely-voiced Powers Booth, and Ryan Phillippe – desperately trying so hard to make himself relevant again in Tinseltown? Yes, behold the green and redband trailers for MacGruber, based off the popular Saturday Night Live comedy sketch. Will Forte, who plays MacGruber on SNL will also play him in the film version. This is due to hit theaters …
I feel guilty perpetuating nefariously obtained, poor quality trailers (that will likely be yanked in the coming hours), but I’m also convinced the world needs more mainstream “fish-that-eat-people-movies”. So the decision to post the trailer for Piranha 3D was kind of foregone. Way back, Andy threw up some pics and an interview from the upcoming Alexandre Aja-directed (The Hills Have Eyes, Mirrors, Haute Tension) cheese-fest. The movie was slated for an April 2010 release but recent rumor mongering says that …
You know it’s a slow Tuesday when we’re premiering the trailers for The Last Song and She’s Out Of My League, but you’ll find no apologies here. It’s the second week in January. We had no other choice. All said, I’m not sure what to make of this one. Sure, the chick (UK’er Alice Eve) pushes real-life cleavage at Apatow grad Jay Baruchel. But… the premise of a hottie falling for a geek while he tries to fend off relationship …
I so wanted to write “New Kick-Ass Trailer Kicks Ass,” but I swore a vow not to write vomit-inducing headlines on Fridays. But man oh man, I cannot wait for April. Seriously. How awesome does this movie look? What’s not to like about bloody violence, teenage shennanigans and little girls who swear like sailors? Wait, that sounds like any night on XBOX Live. At any rate, check out the first full-length trailer for Kick-Ass and, as always, give us your …
The upcoming angels and automatic weapon orgy Legion looks like an attempt at coronation as this decade’s Underworld— a geeky/goofy genre premise that takes itself deadly serious and while a little flat and overly straight-faced, has the sweet potential for guilty pleasure. Legion arrives January 22, which means all kinds of clips are coming available. Clips like this one, where Paul Bettany’s Michael goes angel-a-angel with a wing-swinging Gabriel. Like I said, goofy… but kinda cool. Geek out or roll …
Remakes can be insufferable (take your pick from any horror remake over the last decade… or The Day The Earth Stood Still). They can also hold their own (3:10 to Yuma, The Ring, Clash of the Titans?). But mostly, they’re insufferable. Apparently, thanks to the debut of its trailer, the remake of the 80’s classic The Karate Kid plans on upholding the tradition. And that’s not because we hate remakes. AATM has a firm policy: “Regardless of crappy track record, …
At this point, Kick Ass is percolating in your conscious. You’ve seen the all ages trailer and Condor Man’s taxi cab facial. You’ve seen Nicholas Cage lovingly put a couple slugs into his little girl’s kevlar chest. And sure, while the little girl (AKA- Hit Girl) can take a .45 caliber punch, she can also deliver a few herself. Empire recently posted an exclusive red band Kick Ass Hit Girl trailer, one that Trailer Addict was kind enough to rip …
Crazy Heart is in limited release so I’ve been forbidden to post my review yet, but I will say this – it is definitely one of the year’s best films. It’s like a kinder, gentler, blue-sky version of last year’s The Wrestler. One of the film’s strengths is the soundtrack, especially the song “The Weary Kind.” Jeff Bridges, Robert Duvall and Collin Farrell all sing on the soundtrack, due out on January 19th, 2010. Ryan Bingham co-wrote the song with …
