Summer will End on a High Note with Piranha 3D

There’s a new poster out for Piranha 3D and the sheer silliness of the artwork makes me giddy for August 20th, and, ironically, the 3D format. Batshit crazy fish with razor sharp teeth jumping off the screen and in my face is what 3D was made for and belays the gimmicky foundation of the technology. I’m excited for this movie and I think the movie should be a nice capstone to the so-so summer of 2010. Check out the full-sized

Trailer Tuesday (Thursday Bonus!): Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World

If there’s anything summer 2010 movies have been severely lacking, it’s fun and originality.  Scott Pilgrim vs. The World (based on the comic of the same name) wants to change all that. Michael Cera– whose one-note falsetto, whispered shtick is one I’m not quite tired of yet– is Scott Pilgrim, a dude who meets the girl of his dreams and is subsequently tasked with knocking her seven evil exes the crap out… in amplified video game/comic book style. The fact

Trailer Tuesday: The Sorcerer’s Apprentice

I like Nic Cage. I really do. He is definitely one of Hollywood’s most eclectic talents. I also enjoy Jay Baruchel and Alfred Molina. Baruchel’s work in Knocked Up and Tropic Thunder were hilarious and I thought he was solid as the voice of Hiccup in How to Train Your Dragon. As for Molina, well, can you think of a better comic book villain (besides Heath Ledger) than his Doc Ock in Spiderman 2? Probably not. Yet with all The

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows MTV Teaser Trailer

If you missed the MTV Movie Awards this past Sunday you missed a kick-ass tribute to Sandra Bullock, more Twilight than anyone should ever have to endure, Lindsay Lohan shaking in her seat from a lack of alcohol and enough f-words to make you think Martin Scorsese was directing the awards telecast. But you also missed this nice clip teasing the November 19, 2010 release of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part One. Click the article title above to

MTV Movie Awards Exclusive Twilight Eclipse Clip

If you missed the MTV Movie Awards yesterday, then you definitely missed this exclusive Eclipse clip (say that 10 times fast) and that means you also missed some serious Edward/Jacob tension. I’m not a Twilight fan, but The Twilight Saga: Eclipse might be the best film of the soon-to-be quintology. Click here to see the clip, or click the article headline above.

Justin Bieber’s Never Say Never Video Blows Goats

There is tons o’ hate on the web for Justin Bieber and his balls-have-yet-to-drop voice, perfectly coifed hair and Chiclet-sized white-as-hell teeth. Personally, I have no issues with Bieber. Like a thousand other teenage artists, I’m guessing he’s a flash-in-the-pan and will probably nose-dive with the weight of fame. Probably after he acquires herpes from some loose groupie, starts doing heroin and wakes up at 21 looking like Josh Brolin. But that’s not the point. The point is Bieber’s new

A-Team Clips a Predator

A-Teeeeeeeeeeaaaaaam! I may have some 80’s nostalgia tied to this one, but A-Team is one of the few summer movies I’m looking forward to. Refreshing, none-too-serious and over the top fun is always welcome– even if the green screen effects are a little… obvious. More The A-Team Videos

Batman 3 Gets All Official

In the event you haven’t heard, Chris Nolan must have Inception almost completely tied up: all of a sudden Batman 3 is scheduled for a July 2012 release date. As is, that’s a very quick turnaround schedule for a big film we haven’t heard much of anything about for the last two years. Batman Begins to Dark Knight had the benefits of a three year production schedule– Batman 3 gets two. While a lot of the casting is already in

Kinda Trailer Tuesday: Making of a Spartan

With all the Halo movie on again/off again, maybe it’s on, “Maybe we’ll make it but only we know when” teasery that’s been going on for the last half decade or so, you’d think everyone would have just given up on the franchise that may still be minting million dollar bills, but whose momentum and fascination is fast drying up. Reality is that Halo‘s fanbase– bump from the upcoming Reach aside– has shifted into longtail. Sure, there’s the hardcore Halo

Trailer Tuesday: Buried

Buried has a simple premise: Being buried alive would suck. Being buried alive in Iraq would be even suckier. Debuted at Sundance ’10 and picked up by Lionsgate for a fall release, Buried follows a U.S. civilian (Ryan Reynolds) who is buried in the Iraqi desert after his contractor outfit is attacked. Word is, the film mostly takes place in the box, but is loaded with twists and turns– which should make both claustrophobic and twistaphobic audiences all kinds of
