This is the first time I’ve seen or heard anything about the upcoming (May 13, 2011) comedy, Bridesmaids, and odds are this movie will blow six ways from Sunday, but I’m holding out hope this flick will make me laugh as much as the trailer did. This looks like the chick version of The Hangover. I suppose it was only a matter of time before the soulless, unimaginative drones in Hollywood belched out a concept like Bridesmaids.
Still, I cling to hope. And why? Easy.
I love Saturday Night Live’s Kristen Wiig (MacGruber) and Maya Rudolph (Away We Go).
Wiig’s deadpanned delivery cracks me up and she comes across, both onscreen and off, as the type of easygoing, carefree person that you would love to be friends with. Same with Rudolph, whose performance as a mother-to-be in Sam Mendes’ Away We Go was absolutely fantastic. If you haven’t seen Away We Go, Netflix that bad boy STAT, because it is pure gold from top-to-bottom.
At any rate, check out the trailer for Bridesmaids and let me know your thoughts.
