JACKIE Trailer Foretells of Awards Season Glory

I realize movie trailers don’t always tell the truth, but I get sucked in because I love movies. I anticipate awards seasons darlings just as much as I anticipate holiday/summer popcorn blockbusters. The trailer for JACKIE, Natalie Portman’s new bio-drama about Jacqueline Kennedy, is absolutely stunning. Again, not having seen the movie, I can only assume, but the visuals put forth in the two-and-a-half minute trailer are raw, atmospheric and striking. The film is sitting at 97% on Rotten Tomatoes,

DOCTOR STRANGE Breathes Life Into the Marvel Cinematic Universe

DOCTOR STRANGE is a massive, much-needed jolt of fresh fun into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. I find it ironic this CROUCHING TIGER, HIDDEN DRAGON meets INCEPTION superhero flick, one I was not anticipating in the least, is my favorite entry in the MCU since 2014’s GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY. With that said, let’s be clear: Marvel has never made a bad movie. There have been 12 entries, including IRON MAN (2008), which launched the MCU, and even the weakest entries (I’m

LA LA LAND Trailer Full of The Feels

Ryan Gosling (THE NICE GUYS) is a charming SOB and Emma Stone (ALOHA) is all kinds of adorable in nearly every movie the two thespians have touched over the course of their respective careers. They can tiptoe between drama and comedy with ease. Even in the dark and atmospheric 2011 noir-thriller, DRIVE, which has our hero gagging bad guys with bullets and squishing noggins in elevators (whilst bedazzled in a satin scorpion jacket, nonetheless), you can’t help but be charmed

Missed the Previous Six Trailers for THE LEGO BATMAN MOVIE? Well, Here’s Number Seven!

Remember how I said I was excited for WONDER WOMAN and how DC might assuage their critically bludgeoned movie loins via the Gal Gadot blockbuster coming in June 2017? Yeah, well, I totally forgot about THE LEGO BATMAN MOVIE due in theaters February 2017. With how popular Will Arnett’s (ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT) Batman character was in THE LEGO MOVIE (2014) and the other voice talent cast (Michael Cera, Zach Galifinakas, Rosario Dawson, Ralph Fiennes, Mariah Carey and Jenny Slate), I have

New WONDER WOMAN Trailer Equals Hope for the DC Cinematic Universe

WONDER WOMAN, the next movie (June 2017) in the DC Comics cinematic universe, has a new trailer out today, and even though studios still refuse to plop Chris Pine’s eyebrows in the “starring” credits, I will admit wholeheartedly that I dug this trailer loads more than the San Diego Comic-Con teaser back in late July. I’m not 100 percent sure why I like this new trailer better than its predecessor, especially since there’s not that much new footage, but more

AMERICAN SNIPER Gets a Trailer and I Get Goosebumps

Bradley Cooper is one of the most talented actors working today. Period. He’s was marvelous in SILVER LININGS PLAYBOOK, amazing in AMERICAN HUSTLE and 100% hilarious as Rocket the Raccoon in GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY. Now he’s teamed with Clint Eastwood to bring the story of Chris Kyle – from his autobiography, AMERICAN SNIPER – to the big screen. If you remember, Kyle died in February of 2013, shot to death at a gun range by a friend suffer from post

Qui Gon Jinn P.I. – Liam Neeson Sleuths It Up in Tombstones

I would have never thought in a million years A WALK AMONG THE TOMBSTONES would be such a white-knuckled and well-acted movie. When Liam Neeson is constantly playing Your Worst Nightmare, it’s easy to dismiss this as another cha-ching in the former Jedi’s pocketbook. That’s probably due to the trailer, which isn’t very good, but the movie gets a big fat B+ from me and you can hear my review on the KVNU For the People Movie show by clicking

KVNU Movie Show: Loads of Apes and a Sex Tape!

For the second straight weekend DAWN OF THE PLANET OF THE APES ruled the box office, bringing its two week haul to a respectable $139 million and change. It might be one of the best-reviewed movies of the summer, but I think it could bumped with LUCY, HERCULES (sadly) and GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY all about to  hit multiplexes across the country. What didn’t rule the box office? The sporadically funny SEX TAPE, starring Jason Segal and Cameron Diaz. It
