Full Prometheus Trailer Gives Me a Geekgasm!

Alien, Aliens and, gulp, even Alien 3 (notice how I didn’t mention the abomination called Alien Resurrection) have a special place in my Blu-ray collection and the sci-fi nerd inside me goes bananas as they play out on my 50 inch plasma TV. There are plenty of movies that do not hold up after the passage of time, but these three, particularly Alien and Aliens, hold up after, in the case of Alien, the passage of 30-plus years. I mention this

Color Me Not Excited: First Photo of Lone Ranger and Captain Jack Tonto

I wasn’t a kid in the late 1940s and early 1950s when The Lone Ranger was making waves on ABC, nor did I tune in via radio to one of the 2,956 episodes broadcast from 1933 to 1954, so it’s hard to have any nostalgia for a hero people pooping in Depends thought was the real deal. Sure he’s a cowboy and he has a cool mask, but I couldn’t even latch on with the 1981 movie, The Legend of The Lone

Matt Who? Jeremy Renner and The Bourne Legacy Look Awesome!

Fans of the Jason Bourne movies (based of the novels by Robert Ludlum) – The Bourne Identity, The Bourne Supremacy and The Bourne Ultimatum – have a hard time seeing the franchise moving forward without the ever-likable and ever-talented Matt Damon (We Bought a Zoo), but I’m here to say this summer’s fourth installment, a spin-off called The Bourne Legacy, looks absolutely amazing. And really, how could it not be anything but spectacular? It’s directed and written by Tony Gilroy,

Silent House Trailer Makes Me Close My Eyes AND Puckers My Bum

I have no problem whatsoever admitting my addiction to “found footage” films, at least the ones that seem to promise bum-puckering goodness, like The Paranormal Activity trilogy. I get guffawed at quite a bit because lots of folks think movies of this nature are cheesy and predictable. I couldn’t agree more, but aren’t haunted houses the same way? Still, we squeal and giggle and hide our eyes, because it’s not so much about what’s happening as the experience itself. And

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey Trailer is Kinda Meh, Precious!

Peter Jackson’s The Lord of the Rings trilogy is without a doubt three of my favorite movies of all-time. From the seamless and spectacular meshing of practical and CGI effects, to the breathtaking score and marvelous ensemble acting, there is really nothing I can get riled up about and criticize (except for The Return of The King’s neverending ending). You’d think with my love of the previous trilogy I’d be chomping at the bit to see Peter Jackson venture back to Middle

The Dark Knight Rises Trailer is 100 Percent OMG!

Wow. Just wow. Wow. Can Christopher Nolan do anything wrong? Has the guy ever made a bad movie? Let me answer: No. He’s this generation’s Steven Spielberg, even his so-so movies are unanimously loved by audiences and critics. The only sad thing is The Dark Knight Rises, if you believe Christian Bale and Nolan, is the last outing in this acclaimed and beloved Batman franchise. So while I’m beyond excited for the release of The Dark Knight Rises on July

Utah Film Critics Association Picks Year’s Best! Viva la Drive!

Wow, how did it get to be January 6, 2012 all of the sudden? Seems like just yesterday I was just wrapping Christmas presents (like I really wrap presents, that’s what wives and kids are for) and starving myself so I could pound down all the holiday goodies my seasonally stretched waistline could muster before popping buttons on my suddenly-tight jeans. Point is this: I haven’t posted a lot at Andy at The Movies.com during the holidays and I have

Prometheus Teaser Trailer Promises Summer Sci-Fi Scares!

I love me some Ridley Scott, but I must confess, I haven’t been too enamored with The Brother-of Tony’s recent forays into le cinema. Robin Hood? Seemed promising, but didn’t quite hit the ol’ bullseye, despite having Russell Crowe (The Next Three Days) and Cate Blanchett (Hanna), and don’t get me started on Body of Lies  or A Good Year. However, my opinion might not be so relevant, considering my favorite Ridley Scott movies are Blackhawk Down and The Kingdom

Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows Movie Review (B+)

Despite my Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, Zodiac, Iron Man and Tropic Thunder love for Robert Downey Jr., as well as an awkward fondness for Jude Law and his crazy hairline, the predecessor for Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows, 2009’s Sherlock Holmes, didn’t meet my entertainment litmus test, which means I was lukewarm in my initial viewing, fell asleep in the second and have not watched the movie since, nor do I have plans to pop in the Blu-ray anytime

New Battleship Trailer Vaults Movie from Must-Miss to Must-See

The first teaser trailer for director Peter Berg’s (Hancock, The Kingdom) Battleship debuted this past July and it was, like the concept of the movie (WTF? Now Hollywood’s basing movies off board games?), a complete traveshamockery. There were ships, Qui-Gon Jinn, the girl with giant hoots that dates that tennis player that looks Sean-William Scott, lots of ocean, lots of CGI and not a whole lot of anything juicy to make me want to fork out my hard-earned cash for
