I’ve never been head-over-heels for Spider-Man as a comic book character or as depicted in the Sam Raimi Spider-Man trilogy (I think Spider-Man 2 is the best of the three), and I definitely wasn’t doing cartwheels when a re-boot of the franchise was announced. However, two things changed my mind: First, Marc Webb, the director behind (500) Days of Summer, as the helmsman does nothing but intrigue and inspire confidence in the re-boot’s success. And second, casting Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker/Spider-Man, is nothing short of brilliant. Anyone who has seen the overrated awards-darling, The Social Network, knows one of the film’s bright spots is the performance Garfield gives as Eduardo Saverin. Now, after seeing the image below, I’m even more juiced for the yet-to-be-titled blockbuster that hits theaters on July 3, 2012.

I hate this costume. Why did they change it so much, it was perfect how it was! What are the spider’s legs doing, reaching out to his crotch? And he better not have webshooters. It would be so much better if the webbing was organic like in the other movies. Seriously, why did they change it so much, they didn’t have to. They only did it just to seperate it from the other movies. And the webbing looks awful. Aw man, this movie better not suck…
