Rumors of a fourth “Pirates of the Caribbean” film set to sail in 2010 with Johnny Depp will no longer carry the name Gore Verbinski as director. According to Variety, the filmmaker has told Disney and producer Jerry Bruckheimer he won’t be back as to helm the franchise and play with Davey Jones’ crazy tentacle beard. Instead, the director now shifts his attention to the big screen adaptation of the popular video game “Bioshock.” Having thought “Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End” sucked three levels of pirate booty, and having played and enjoyed “Bioshock” on the XBOX 360, I welcome Verbinski’s decision and say kudos to your sir!

Bioshock was decidedly awesome.
Here’s hoping it will actually break the “crappy movie based off of an awesome game” mold. I don’t know if I can handle another Max Payne sized letdown.
Ugh, Max Payne was crap. So was Doom. The video game industry needs to learn what Hollywood did with “Ironman,” “Batman Begins” and “The Dark Knight,” which is a decent director plus a good cast will make or break a project. Hence, I’m looking forward to this AND “Gears of War.” Now if they’d just make that damn Halo movie, we’d be good to go.
